Understanding ACEs and Cannabis Dependency
What’s the Programme about?
It explores the critical links that exist between early life trauma (ACEs); cannabis use, and consequent implications for relationships and career prospects throughout life. It details what risks exist; how to identify them, and how to both manage, and reduce them.
It poses the questions:
What factors could negatively affect cognitive development PRIOR to cannabis use?
What factors could THEN be adversely affected BY cannabis use?
HOW can we assess the risk?
HOW can we bring about positive change and healing when problems occur?
It explores the critical risk factors of:
The AGE of the user (what stage of cognitive development?)
The DURATION of use (how long has cannabis been used for?)
The FREQUENCY of use (how often has it been used?)
The QUANTITY of use (how many joints are regularly used?)
The PURITY of the CANNABIS being used (percentage THC?)
The rate of METABOLISM (how long does it stay in the body?)
What OTHER drugs or substances are being used at the same time?
Has this person experienced EARLY LIFE ADVERSITY or TRAUMA?
It asks how THIS information then enables us to ASSESS RISKS and UNDERSTAND just how each person may be likely to experience his / her world.
It provides answers on HOW to bring about positive change.
What’s the Format of the Programme?
4 x 90 minute sessions (2 x 40 minutes with break) – usually spread over 4 weeks of learning and practice.
Sessions are interactive, giving practitioners the opportunity to share their own experiences and insights.
